چکیده

Abstract Italy is characterized by widespread geomorphological instability, among which landslides leave impressive marks on the landscape. Nevertheless, landslide bodies may represent key sites for thematic and educational itineraries, especially in protected areas, where their management becomes an important issue. Our study focuses “Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve” (Central Apennines, Italy), iconic are present. Here, “Scialimata Grande di Torre Alfina” (SGTA) listed regional Geosite database. This work aims to propose a multiscale procedure analysis, terms of both hazard sources but also geoheritage enhancement opportunities natural reserves. After performing Landslide Susceptibility conditional Analysis (LSA) reserve territory, attention was focused SGTA, define properly its features morphodynamics. A multi-disciplinary approach adopted, applying remote sensing (UAV structure from motion, Photointerpretation) field survey (geomorphological GPS monitoring). From LSA, based drainage density, curvature, slope triggering factors, road trail susceptibility maps were derived, as base tools future risk assessments paths within reserve. At SGTA scale, monitoring showed displacement up 23 m during time interval between 2015 2018. The dynamics seem be driven alternating dry extremely wet periods; moreover, leaks aqueduct detachment area piping effects through clays have decreased substrate cohesion. complex influence Paglia River valley geometry hypothesized, underlining action different spatial scales (on-site off-site) environment (sediment connectivity, hydrology). Finally, appears highly representative geomorphic Reserve (i.e., scientific value) it could classified active geosite. Since site featured tourist trail, adequate strategies must considering value safety issues.

Landslide hazard assessment in the Collazzone area, Umbria, Central Italy

We present the results of the application of a recently proposed model to determine landslide hazard. The model predicts where landslides will occur, how frequently they will occur, and how large they will be in a given area. For the Collazzone area, in the central Italian Apennines, we prepared a multi-temporal inventory map through the interpretation of multiple sets of aerial photographs tak...

Dynamics and conceptual model of the Rossena castle landslide (Northern Apennines, Italy)

In the Northern Apennines there are many historical villages and castles, which are of great value and represent a cultural heritage of great importance. Their presence within a territory greatly affected by landslide hazards creates, in many circumstances, the need to solve problems of land management and to act for the preservation of historical monuments. This paper describe an interesting l...

Improving Landslide Forecasting Using ASCAT-Derived Soil Moisture Data: A Case Study of the Torgiovannetto Landslide in Central Italy

Predicting the spatial and temporal occurrence of rainfall triggered landslides represents an important scientific and operational issue due to the high threat that they pose to human life and property. This study investigates the relationship between rainfall, soil moisture conditions and landslide movement by using recorded movements of a rock slope located in central Italy, the Torgiovannett...

The 1998 Sarno (italy) Landslide from Sar Interferometry

The SAR Interferometry is a tecnique for measuring the topography of surface and its change through the phase component of a coherent radar signal [1]. This paper reports on the results of the SAR Interferometry application to the study to the Sarno landslide. Two ERS-1/2 tandem pairs acquired over the Sarno area after the 1998 landslide have been processed to generate a SAR DEM. Due to the str...

Comprehensive landslide risk management monitoring

Background and objective: Although the risk management and crisis management issues were discussed during recent years in scientific meetings, but still there is no proper planning to deal with natural disasters. The lack of systematic attitude to landslide phenomenon and also loss of predetermined plans for responsibility of the trusted organizations and lack of coordination between these orga...
